We got an
Insect Lore Butterfly Garden Kit on a Groupon special. Yes, Teddy is a little young, but he is very observant and loved watching the caterpillars and butterflies. I, however, had a field day with the whole experience!
It was neat to see the caterpillars eat and climb around their little jar. Our caterpillars arrived and within the first 2 days, they had all turned upside down and we had one chrysalis, so one of them hatched about 18 hours before the rest. Separating the silk from the chrysalis was a little more nerve wracking than I thought it would be so I had my hubby do it :) But we safety pinned the paper to the side of the habitat that came with the kit and were good to go. Easy peasy.

Overall the
Butterfly Garden is really cool. It comes with super neat facts like this: Did you know Painted Lady butterflies breath through their abdomen? I thought that was interesting. I would definitely recommend it for children 2 and a half to a hundred and two ;) Younger ones must be watched very closely and kept slightly further than their arms length away.
