Do you see me? My too big and tattered shoes, my hand me down dress, my face that is too old for my tender age? I am hungry, but not for food. They give us food here. And a place to sleep. They even give us books and teach us how to read.
I am lonely. I need love. I need you to show me this Jesus person is real. Does He really love the least of these? Can anyone really love me? Where I have lived is hard and cold and sometimes very frightening. I need to know the warmth of a family. To know that I haven't been forgotten by all.
I need you. Will you please love me? Will you show me there is hope? There is grace? Can you help me to believe that this Man, this Jesus, cares for me? I know you can see me. Can you hear me calling out for you? Maybe He is calling out for you to help me, too.
I will be waiting. Here, in my too big and tattered shoes, my hand me down dress, my face that is too old for my tender age. I promise I will love you back. Don't leave my soul to become tattered and worn like my shoes.
