Our Advent and Christmas Angel Activities

This is a picture heavy post! And a little late, but better late than never. We used The Christmas Angel this Christmas and loved it! The Angel focuses on acts of service and giving and having Christ as the focus of our children's Christmas activities. Mr. T loved it, and I think by this coming Christmas, both boys will have lots of fun!

Angel. We named her Angel because Angel is one of the word approximations Mr. T developed this Christmas.

Mr. T was so proud of his gingerbread train! And he did such a great job decorating it! But I have to tell you it didn't last the day. Mr. T knew he couldn't have the candy on it (artificial coloring and he do not get along), so he ate all the icing "glue". And then the train came apart. But it was cute while it lasted!

This was our first craft! I, I mean Angel, set it up the night before so it was all ready to go when Mr. T came out of his room. The delight at doing a craft first thing really made his day. He enjoyed looking for Angel and finding the little cards she left.

This was Saint Nicholas Day. I love Saint Nicholas and the legends and history and beautiful servant attitude he had so much more than the fat man in the red suit, so I will always incorporate Saint Nicholas into our Advent activities. Mr. T loved his shoe which was filled with two gold coins, Yummy Earth Organic Gummy Bears and a yummy clementine.  We made a dutch baby German pancake for breakfast, Mr. T gave his pocket money to the Salvation Army bell ringer (it was so sweet!) and we secretly bought some cookies for a window washer to finish out the day. We read The Legend of Saint Nicholas , too. It is one of the most beautifully illustrated books we own.

Mr. T is getting very good at using his table manners and Montessori practical life serving skills. He even helps clear the table and load the dishwasher! He really loved being my big helper through the Christmas season!

This was Christmas Eve. Mr. T loved playing with his Veggie Tales Nativity. And the book we read Christmas morning is a sweet board book of Away in a Manger. Mr. T knew several of those gifts were for him so I knew our book needed to be short and sweet.

And the banana phone. Everyone should have one!

I'm thinking of pulling Angel out for Lent, too. What sort of special activities does your family do for Lent and Easter?

Christmas Time!

 

 

What a beautiful time of year!We've been decorating, having adorable pictures made, and learning all about Jesus, using Truth in the Tinsel, while we celebrate this Advent Season. We celebrated Saint Nicholas Day today and it was so much fun! Mr. T loved finding goodies in his shoe and watching VeggieTales Story of Saint Nicholas! He was not a huge fan of the German Pancake we had for breakfast, though.

Mr. F usually sleeps through all the fun :) The luxury of being the baby, I suppose.

And we have a new tradition this year! The Christmas Angel (an alternative to EOTS) is a wonderful addition and Mr. T loves getting up in the morning and looking for Angel to see what fun service we get to do that day.
